South Maui Activities

Kamaole I Beach is great for walking, swimming, snorkeling, bogie boarding or watching the whales in season. A bit north, just past the Cove, is a favorite spot for surfing lessons. You can also paddle an Outrigger canoe here on days when the local club invites visitors.

wailea golf

Six world class golf courses are within a 5-10 minute drive with several others less than an hour from our door. Kihei's beautiful, new public pool is a 5 minute drive (or slow walk up hill) - great for lap swimming (of course the ocean off our condo is too) and home to many water exercise classes all are invited to join.

From our peaceful, ocean front condo you can walk to several excellent restaurants and fun little shops, or for more of a selection, drive (or take the local beach bus) south to the Shops of Wailea. Continue on south to Makena for some excellent snorkeling and even farther toward La Perouse to see the desolate landscape of a lava field.

Maui Day Trips:

Our vacation rental condo is just 25 minutes from the airport at Kahului (OGG), and 30 minutes from Lahaina, Kaanapali and other spots in West Maui.

We have our own vineyard upcountry, but stop on the way in Makawao and visit the artist colony (glass blowers, wonderful homemade fruit pies and more).

West Maui offers some wonderful hikes in the West Maui Mountains - the oldest mountains on Maui. Io is one of the wettest spots on earth so it's no wonder through the years rain has etched the face of these mountains making for some wonderful wrinkles and valleys

waterfalls

The quaint fishing town of Lahaina is a must see, but Maui offers other great little escapes and adventures. One favorite is an all day trip to Hana, with great curvy roads and wonderful waterfalls.

Or, sign up for a snorkeling or scuba trip to Molokini to see dolphins, turtles, beautiful fish (some ugly ones too) and whales in season, drive up country to Kula and the protea and vegetable farms or continue on to Haleakela and bike down a "dormant" volcano.

It will take more than one trip to do everything Maui has to offer... We've been coming for years and are still trying.
